Your night in Spot

  1. Join at the venue

Scan the QR code on the screen or type the event code. One Spot account works at every k5e night, so you can make it any time.

If the host charges entry or takes tips, the event page shows how to pay them.

Spot's event page for a live night, with a $10 entry card and a Tip your host card.
  2. Request your songs

Search the host's catalog by song or artist. If the host allows it, type a title and artist that aren't in the catalog.

Song pages show the lyrics when they're available.

Spot's Songs tab with search results for "valerie" from the host's catalog.
  3. Watch your place in line

See where you are and roughly when you're up. The estimate adds up the songs ahead of you, and the host sets the running order, so it can shift as the night goes.

When your host turns on notifications, Spot can tell you when you're close, when you're next and when you're on.

Spot's queue: "Your turn in about 9 min, #2 in line", with a "Get ready — your turn is coming up" notification above it.
  4. Put Spot on your Home Screen

Spot opens like an app from your Home Screen, and that's what makes notifications possible.

    1. Add it from your browser: Share, then Add to Home Screen (on Android, Install app).
    2. Open k5e Spot from your Home Screen.
    3. On iPhone and iPad, sign in again: the Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in.
    4. At your next night, tap Notify me and allow notifications.

On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work from the Home Screen.

Questions

More in the Spot help guide, or write to [email protected].

What is k5e?

k5e runs live karaoke nights. Singers use k5e Spot on their phone to get in line, request songs and see when they’re up. Hosts use k5e Cue to run the queue, the rotation and the screen for the room.

How do I join a night?

Create your free k5e Spot account at spot.k5e.live any time, even before your first night. At the venue, scan the QR code on the screen or type the event code, then request your songs. Spot runs in your phone’s browser; add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app.

How do I sign in to k5e?

Create a k5e account with your email, or use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. When you choose Google, k5e receives your name and email address to create and identify your account, nothing more. k5e never posts to your account and does not access any other Google data.

Will I get a notification when I'm up?

When your host turns notifications on for the night, Spot can tell you when you’re getting close, when you’re next and when you’re on. On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work once Spot is on your Home Screen.

Do I pay through Spot?

No. When a host charges entry or takes tips, Spot shows the entry amount and how your host takes payment. The money goes straight to your host: k5e doesn’t process payments.

How much does it cost?

A k5e Spot account is free for singers. Hosting with k5e Cue is free during the soft launch.

What devices does it work on?

k5e Spot is made for phones: iPhone and iPad in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and Android in Chrome. k5e Cue runs in a modern browser on a laptop or desktop, with the room screen on a TV or projector.

Next up: you.
