# k5e > k5e runs live karaoke nights. Singers use k5e Spot on their phone to get in line, request songs and see when they're up. Hosts use k5e Cue to run the queue, the rotation and the screen for the room. k5e runs anywhere with an internet connection: Spot in a phone's browser, Cue in a laptop browser. It started in North Carolina in May 2026. So far: 7 nights at 2 venues, 140+ participants, 450+ songs requested. ## For singers - k5e Spot is your place in line at a k5e karaoke night. It's free for singers and runs in your phone's browser, with nothing to download. - A Spot account is needed and works at every k5e night: create one at https://spot.k5e.live/account/register, or sign in at https://spot.k5e.live/account/login. - To join a night, scan the QR code at the venue or enter the six-character event code on https://k5e.live/ (it opens https://spot.k5e.live/p/). Codes are 6 letters and numbers, with no I, O, 0 or 1. - Spot shows the singer's place in line and roughly when they're up. With Spot on the Home Screen and the host's notifications on, it tells them when their turn is coming up. ## For hosts - k5e Cue runs your karaoke night's queue from a browser on your laptop, alongside the karaoke player you already use. Singers request songs from their phones, the rotation keeps it fair, and the room screen shows who's up. - Cue doesn't play the tracks yet: the host cues each song in their own karaoke player, then hits Next in Cue. - Hosting is by invitation during the soft launch. To request access, email info@k5e.live with your name, your venue and city, how often you host, what you use today, where your song library comes from, and whether you want the desktop app or k5e Player. - Hosts who already have access sign in at https://cue.k5e.live/login. ## Coming soon Announced, not available yet, with no dates: - Cue for macOS and Windows: the same Cue, as an app on your Mac or Windows laptop. - k5e Player: plays the queue's tracks under Cue's control, so managing and playing the queue happen in one place. ## Pricing - k5e is in its soft launch. Hosting is by invitation. - k5e Spot is free for singers, and hosting with k5e Cue is free during the soft launch. A host may set an entry fee or ask for tips; singers pay the host directly, by Venmo or cash, and k5e doesn't handle the money. ## About and contact - k5e is built and run by a small independent team. - Contact: info@k5e.live ## Pages - [For singers](https://k5e.live/singers/): what k5e Spot does on a night - [For hosts](https://k5e.live/hosts/): running a night with k5e Cue, and how to get access - [About](https://k5e.live/about/): the facts about k5e - [Spot help guide](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/): step-by-step help for singers ## Spot help guide - [Create an account](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/create-account/): Set up your k5e Spot account so your performance history follows you from event to event. - [Verify your email](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/verify-email/): Confirm your email address to activate your account and unlock sign-in links. - [Sign in](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/sign-in/): Get back into your account with a one-tap link, your password, or Google. - [Set a password](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/set-a-password/): Add a password so you can sign in without waiting for an email link. - [Join an event](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/join-event/): Get into tonight's lineup with a join code or by scanning the venue's QR code. - [Add a song](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/add-a-song/): Search the host's catalog or type your own request to get into the queue. - [Manage your queue](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/manage-your-queue/): See where you are in the lineup, reorder your own songs, and remove ones you've changed your mind about. - [Share an event](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/share-an-event/): Invite another performer to tonight's event with a QR code, the join code, or your phone's share sheet. - [Add to Home Screen and notifications](https://k5e.live/support/spot/guide/add-to-home-screen/): Put k5e Spot on your Home Screen so it opens like an app, and turn on notifications for your turn. ## Questions ### What is k5e? k5e runs live karaoke nights. Singers use **k5e Spot** on their phone to get in line, request songs and see when they're up. Hosts use **k5e Cue** to run the queue, the rotation and the screen for the room. ### How do I join a night? Create your free k5e Spot account at [spot.k5e.live](https://spot.k5e.live/account/register) any time, even before your first night. At the venue, scan the QR code on the screen or type the event code, then request your songs. Spot runs in your phone's browser; add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app. ### How do I get host access? Hosting with k5e is by invitation during the soft launch. Request host access opens an email to [info@k5e.live](mailto:info@k5e.live) with a short template: your name, your venue and city, how often you host, what you use today, where your song library comes from, and whether you want the desktop app or k5e Player. We'll get back to you. Already hosting with k5e? Sign in at [cue.k5e.live](https://cue.k5e.live/login). ### How do I sign in to k5e? Create a k5e account with your email, or use **Sign in with Google** or **Sign in with Apple**. When you choose Google, k5e receives your name and email address to create and identify your account, nothing more. k5e never posts to your account and does not access any other Google data. ### Will I get a notification when I'm up? When your host turns notifications on for the night, Spot can tell you when you're getting close, when you're next and when you're on. On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work once Spot is on your Home Screen. ### Do I pay through Spot? No. When a host charges entry or takes tips, Spot shows the entry amount and how your host takes payment. The money goes straight to your host: k5e doesn't process payments. ### Do my singers need an app? No download. Singers use k5e Spot in their phone's browser with a free Spot account. They can make one before the night, or at the venue after scanning the QR code on your room screen. ### Where do the songs come from? Singers search the song catalogs on your event, and you can let them type in songs that aren't in a catalog. During the soft launch we set up your catalog with you, so tell us where your song library comes from in your host-access email. ### How do singers pay entry or tips? Straight to you. If you set an entry fee, singers pay it by Venmo, or in cash if you allow it. With tips on, they see a Tip your host card that goes to your Venmo. k5e doesn't process or verify payments. ### What do I need at the venue? A laptop with a modern browser and an internet connection for Cue, and a TV or projector for the room screen. Cue needs the internet for the whole night: a short Wi-Fi drop isn't a problem, but if the venue's connection goes down for good, switch the laptop to another one, such as your phone's hotspot. Singers use their own phones. Cue doesn't play the music yet, so your karaoke player keeps playing the tracks; k5e Player, coming soon, will play them under Cue's control. ### How much does it cost? A k5e Spot account is free for singers. Hosting with k5e Cue is free during the soft launch. ### What devices does it work on? k5e Spot is made for phones: iPhone and iPad in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, and Android in Chrome. k5e Cue runs in a modern browser on a laptop or desktop, with the room screen on a TV or projector. ## Your night in Spot ### Join at the venue Scan the QR code on the screen or type the event code. One Spot account works at every k5e night, so you can make it any time. If the host charges entry or takes tips, the event page shows how to pay them. ### Request your songs Search the host's catalog by song or artist. If the host allows it, type a title and artist that aren't in the catalog. Song pages show the lyrics when they're available. ### Watch your place in line See where you are and roughly when you're up. The estimate adds up the songs ahead of you, and the host sets the running order, so it can shift as the night goes. When your host turns on notifications, Spot can tell you when you're close, when you're next and when you're on. ### Put Spot on your Home Screen Spot opens like an app from your Home Screen, and that's what makes notifications possible. ## Your night in Cue ### Set up the event Name the night, pick the venue and choose the rotation: round robin, one song per singer each round, or fixed slots that give every singer a seat for the whole night. Turn on singer notifications, set an entry fee or show a “Tip your host” card. Singers pay you directly by Venmo, or cash if you allow it; k5e doesn't handle the money. ### Put the room screen up Open the Display on the projector or TV. It shows the song that's on, who's up next, and the event code with a QR code to join. It keeps up on its own as you run the queue. ### Run the queue Requests land in the rotation as singers send them. Cue doesn't play the tracks yet: you cue each song in your karaoke player as usual, then hit Next in Cue. Drag a song to change the order, and Restore order puts the rotation back. Add walk-ins and request songs for them. With notifications on, singers who opted in get a notification when their turn is coming up. ### Read the recap When the night ends, the Summary shows how it went: how many songs were sung, how long singers waited, the pace and the crowd, with charts of arrivals, songs per hour and the wait. From your second night at a venue you've set up in Cue, it sets each night against your earlier ones there. ## Spot help guide, in full ### Create an account You'll need a free account to join an event. It keeps your stage name, song history, and saved spots with you everywhere you go, and only takes a moment to set up. #### Open the sign-up screen From the k5e Spot home screen tap **Create account**. You'll see two ways to sign up: continue with Google, or sign up with your email. #### Sign up with Google Tap **Continue with Google** and pick the account you want to use. That's it — you're signed in straight away, with nothing else to confirm. #### Sign up with email 1. Enter your **name** — this is the stage name other performers and the host will see. 2. Enter your **email address**. 3. Tap **Create account**. We'll email you a link to finish setting up your account. You can add a password later from your account settings if you'd like a second way to sign in. Open your inbox and tap the link to activate your account. The link expires after a short while — if it runs out, just request a new one. ### Verify your email When you sign up with email, we send a verification link to make sure the address is really yours. Verifying takes one tap. #### Check your inbox After you create your account, k5e Spot shows a confirmation screen and sends an email to the address you entered. #### Tap the link Open the email from k5e and tap the verification link. It opens k5e Spot, activates your account, and signs you in. You're ready to join an event. #### If the link doesn't arrive - **Check your spam or junk folder.** Verification emails sometimes land there. - **Resend it.** Tap **Resend link** on the confirmation screen to send a fresh email. - **Wrong address?** Tap **Different email?** to go back and re-enter it. Verification links expire after a short while for your security. If yours has run out, request a new one and use the most recent email. ### Sign in Already have an account? You can sign back in three ways — pick whichever is easiest on the night. #### Sign in with a link (no password needed) 1. Enter your **email address**. 2. Tap **Send sign-in link**. 3. Open the email we send and tap the link — it signs you in on this device. This is the fastest option and the one we recommend if you haven't set a password. #### Sign in with a password If you've set a password, tap **Use password instead**, enter your email and password, and tap **Sign in**. Forgot it? Tap **Forgot password?** to reset it by email. #### Sign in with Google Tap **Continue with Google** and choose your account. If you signed up with Google, this is the only step. ### Set a password Accounts are created with Google or an email link, so a password is optional. Add one if you'd like a quick way to sign in that doesn't depend on your inbox. #### Open Security & sign-in Tap your avatar to open the account menu, then go to **Security & sign-in**. #### Set or change your password Next to **Password**, tap **Change** (or **Set** if you don't have one yet) and follow the prompts. Your password must be at least 12 characters. Once it's saved, you can sign in with your email and password from the **Sign in** screen by choosing **Use password instead**. #### Connect Google or Apple From the same screen you can link a Google or Apple account. Linking gives you another one-tap way to sign in — handy if you ever lose access to your email. #### Delete your account The **Danger zone** at the bottom of this screen lets you permanently delete your k5e account if you ever need to. Deletion is confirmed by email and removes your data. ### Join an event Every k5e event has a short **join code** and a matching **QR code**, usually shown on the venue's screen or on a card at the host's table. Either one gets you in. #### Join with a QR code Point your phone's camera at the event's QR code and tap the link that pops up. k5e Spot opens straight to the event. If your camera doesn't recognise it, open k5e Spot and use the in-app scanner from the join screen. #### Join with a code 1. Open k5e Spot. 2. Enter the event's join code (for example `ABC123`). 3. You'll land on the event's page. #### Enter your stage name Your account name is filled in to start — edit it to whatever you want on the lineup (this is what the host announces and other performers see), then tap the arrow to join. #### You're in Once you've joined you'll see the event home: what's playing, who's up next, and a search bar to request your song. ### Add a song Once you've joined an event, requesting a song takes a few seconds. #### Search the catalog Tap the search bar on the event home and start typing a song title or artist. Results from the host's catalog appear as you type. Tap a result to open its details, then tap **Add to queue**. You can add a short note for the host — for example "duet with Sam" — before you confirm. #### Can't find it? Type it in If the song isn't in the catalog, switch to free-form entry and type the **title** and **artist** yourself. This lets you request anything, even if it's not in the host's library. Add it to the queue the same way. #### How many can I add? You can have a few requests waiting at once. When you reach the limit, wait for one of your songs to play, then add another. Your pending songs appear under the **Yours** tab in the queue. ### Manage your queue Open the **Queue** to follow the night and manage your own requests. #### Up next vs. Yours - **Up next** shows the whole lineup in play order, with the song that's playing now at the top and a number for each one waiting. - **Yours** shows only the songs you've requested, so you can see at a glance how many you have in and where they sit. #### See your position Each waiting song has a position number. The host decides the exact running order, so your spot can shift as people join, drop out, or the night rolls on. #### Reorder your songs If you have more than one song in, you can change which of *your* songs comes first. Use the up and down controls on a song under the **Yours** tab to swap it with your other slots. This rearranges your own picks — it doesn't change the overall lineup positions. > The song that's currently up next is locked and can't be reordered. #### Remove a song Changed your mind? Tap **Remove** on one of your pending songs and confirm. It leaves the queue right away, freeing up a slot for a new request. ### Share an event Sitting with friends who want to get on the lineup too? You can share the event straight from your phone — no need to walk them over to the venue's screen. #### Open the share sheet On the event home, tap the **share** icon in the top corner. #### Three ways to share - **Show the QR code.** Have the other person scan the QR code on your screen with their camera — it takes them straight to the event. - **Read out the join code.** The large code shown here is the same one displayed at the venue. They can type it into k5e Spot to join. - **Send a link.** Tap **Copy link** to copy the event link, or use your phone's share button to send it by message, chat, or any app. Everyone who joins lands in the same lineup, so you can all take turns through the night. ### Add to Home Screen and notifications k5e Spot runs in your phone's browser. Add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app, full screen and one tap away. That's also what makes notifications possible: on iPhone and iPad, notifications only work once Spot is on your Home Screen. > Use your phone's own browser. The built-in browsers inside apps like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or Gmail can't add Spot to your Home Screen or show notifications. Open the menu (⋯ or ⋮) and choose **Open in browser** first. #### iPhone and iPad Works in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. 1. Open [spot.k5e.live](https://spot.k5e.live) and tap **Share**: - **Safari:** the Share button in the toolbar - **Chrome** and **Firefox:** Share in the address bar - **Edge:** the menu (⋯), then Share 2. Choose **Add to Home Screen**. 3. Open k5e Spot from your Home Screen and sign in. Spot on your Home Screen keeps its own sign-in, separate from the browser's. 4. Turn on notifications (see below). #### Android In Chrome, Spot can install itself: open **Settings** in Spot and tap **Add to Home Screen**, then **Install**. If you don't see it, open the browser menu (⋮) and choose **Install app** (or **Add to Home screen**). #### On a computer In Chrome or Edge, Spot's **Settings** shows **Add to Home Screen** when the browser can install it. Spot is made for the phone in your pocket, though: that's where your place in line and your notifications are most useful. #### Turn on notifications Notifications are up to your host: they turn them on per night. When they're on, Spot can tell you: - when your turn is coming up - when you're next - when you're on To turn them on, tap **Notify me** on the "Don't miss your turn" card at the event, then allow notifications when your phone asks. You can also turn them on any time under **Settings → Notifications**. The setting is per device. If Spot says notifications are blocked, allow notifications for k5e Spot in your phone's or browser's settings. Signing out turns them off on that device; signing back in turns them on again.
